Soaring Eagle TRANSIT

We service a safe, convenient, and reliable public transportation for the Copper River Basin to meet the needs of health care, education, employment, recreation, entertainment, and shopping.

ANCHORAGE – Service to Anchorage weekly Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Requires a reservation 24 hours in advance. SET requires two or more passengers reserved for Anchorage runs.

VALDEZ – Service to Valdez weekly Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  Requires a reservation 24 hours in advance. SET requires two or more passengers reserved for Valdez runs. We are ending the Valdez route on November 2nd for the winter and might close a week early depending on road conditions.

COPPER RIVER BASIN – A regular, scheduled route that includes services to Glennallen, Copper Center, and stops in between Monday through Friday. By reservation, buses will leave the route for pickups and drop-offs within ¾ mile of the route. For an off-route pickup, call (907) 822-4545 on weekdays, at least the day before.

CALL-OUT-SERVICE – Our service area is an approximate 50-mile radius from Gulkana. The northern boundary is Posty’s Store in Chistochina, Southern boundary is Chitna, and our Western boundary is Eureka.

The purpose of the Soaring Eagle Transit is to provide safe, dependable and convenient public transportation to destinations within the Copper River Basin to the elderly, disabled, and others. 

For the safety, enjoyment & convenience of everyone, please observe the following rules when riding Soaring Eagle Transit.

THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO ALL PASSENGERS:
Ø  No smoking or other use of tobacco products.
Ø  No pets except service animals.
Ø  No intoxicated individuals.
Ø  Alcohol is NOT permitted in vans.  
Ø  No littering. 
Ø  No vandalism or graffiti.
Ø  Do not place feet upon seats.
Ø  No disorderly conduct, including threatening or harassing behavior to other passengers and/or drivers.
Ø  Do not open windows without the permission of the driver.
Ø  No cursing or foul language.
Ø  No Firearms.
Ø  No excessively loud music, crude, or offensive lyrics.
Ø  Entertainment systems are for the enjoyment of all passengers.

THE FOLLOWING CARRY-ON ITEMS ARE PROHIBITED ON THE VANS:
Ø  Hazardous materials (caustic, explosive, highly flammable materials), etc.

DUE TO SCHEDULING CONSTRAINTS:                                       
Ø  Passengers must be ready to board when the van arrives.  Drivers are not allowed to wait for latecomers.   
Ø  Drivers are not allowed to “GO BACK” to get an item forgotten by a passenger.  
Ø  Drivers will assist the elderly or disabled as necessary.     
Ø  SEAT BELTS must be worn at all times. 
Ø  Bags are subject to search at any time.

Soaring Eagle Transit is accessible to persons with disabilities. 

Soaring Eagle Transit is accessible to persons with disabilities. Travel arrangements must be made at least 48 hours prior to travel. When you make your reservation, please let us know if we should send the bus with the wheelchair lift.

The accessible bus has priority seating for persons with disabilities.  

Operators are trained to assist riders, secure wheelchairs, provide information on destinations served, and announce stops, including any stop you request. 

You may travel with your respirator, concentrator, and portable oxygen. 

Service animals are welcome onboard buses and vans and in our facilities.  (They must be kept under the control of the passenger at all times.)

Reasonable Modification Policy

Passengers with disabilities may request modifications to current service procedures to access the service.  To make a request, please call us at 907-822-4545 or email us at admin@gulkanacouncil.org.  Please submit requests at least the day before the trip.  Soaring Eagle Transit will not charge additional fees for passengers requiring reasonable modifications.

Soaring Eagle Transit operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, or national origin in accordance with Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.  Any person who believes that she or he has been aggrieved by any unlawful discriminatory practice under Title VI may file a complaint with us.  Click here for the complaints procedures and form.
